Probably easiest to operate from the parking lot that's wholly within the park boundary. No notable noise on 20m at the parking lot. Otherwise you're operating in a prairie.

Restrooms, boat launch, campground, and multi-use paved trails are mostly on county park land. The state-owned areas are planned for improvements and new features.

Antenna Restrictions

Cellular Phone Coverage

Generally has excellent cell phone coverage with proximity to Madison and Monona. Expect 4G LTE coverage.

Special Considerations

Many areas of this park complex are city or county managed. Use the above interactive map to verify the extent of state land.

The State Recreation Area has not had much progress on its 2010 improvement plan. This means that most of the open areas are seasonally open for hunting. Use appropriate precautions during these seasons.
