Creating Redirected Pages

From Parks on the Air

Redirections are alias pages that take the user to another page. They are very simple to create. You should create a redirect for the park number to the park page and a redirect for an inaccurate name in the POTA database.

Find parks that are missing redirect pages using Special:LonelyPages. This won't show pages that are linked by another (non-category) page, but these are generally uncommon, particularly for new park pages.

Park Number Redirects

Enter the park number with the dash into the search bar, for example K-XXXX where XXXX is the four digit park number. When the search results come and you are asked to create the page, click on it and enter :

#redirect [[The Park Name for K-XXXX]]

and click save. When someone searches for K-XXXX they will be directed to the page named "The Park Name for K-XXXX"

Redirects for Inaccurate POTA Park Names

Because the names you see for parks on the POTA Website are made up of two parts, the name and the type of park, many are not the same as the actual park name. In this WiKi when this is the case a redirect of the POTA name should be created to the actual park name.

An example of this is K-3498 Devils River Natural State Conservation Area in the POTA park list. The actual name of this park is Devils River State Natural Area. The reason for this is in the POTA database the park name is Devils River Natural and the generic park type is State Conservation Area. These two fields are combined to create the name you actually see in the POTA park lists.
