Operating Sites in the Park

There are three parking lots off the main entrance for mobile operation with seasonal parking restrictions at the boat launch lot for trailer-sized spots. Parking for the "pet swim area" has access to trails and some adjacent picnic tables with potentially convenient trees. The lakeside picnic area offers a selection of larger trees and benches/tables, but these may occupied by groups for cookouts in the summer with their associated permanently installed grills.

The scenic overlook at the Woodland Trail and Oak Savannah Trail may also be a decent place to operate with a bench.

A fully self-contained mobile station could find operating at the park welcome station convenient.

Park Facilities (restrooms, headquarters, entry points, etc.)

The park headquarters is staffed with coverage varying by the season. There is an option for purchasing an entry pass at the electronic kiosk. Annual purchases can be upgraded from receipt to sticker at any staffed DNR office in Wisconsin.

Restrooms are available year-around. Winter facilities towards the lake are limited to the fish cleaning station at the boat launch with heat and usually hot/cold running water. In the summer, there are also full-service facilities near the beach.

Antenna Restrictions

Minimal. Simple wires in trees should be fine. Hammocks are rather popular in the summer, so presumably keep to low-impact choices.

Cellular Phone Coverage

Generally has excellent cell phone coverage with proximity to Waunakee and Madison. Expect 4G LTE coverage or better.

Special Considerations

Winter trails are maintained for different activities. Respect the trail operation directions and ski/snowshoe/hike assignments based on the winter season map.

This park has Native American effigy mounds that must be treated with the proper respect. Operating on the portions of the Woodland Trail near the mounds is not advised.
